St Columbus Deaf Facility Pupils Visit UCC: A Day of Discovery

We welcomed to the School, St Columbus Deaf Facility, 6th Class.

The pupils had a tour of UCC, met PAWS@UCC dogs, Nicole, a former pupil of their school chatted to them about the support she receives to support her learning as a deaf student at UCC. The students got to practice being a pharmacist and counselled UCC Registrar Prof. Stephen Byrne in the model pharmacy with the support of Rachel, a deaf School of Pharmacy student. They prepared samples for the Mass Spectrometer with Dr Florence McCarthy from the School of Chemistry. To round off the day they consumed the classic student meal of sausage and chips in the Student Rest! Phew, what a day!
